Solstødur

from Stiklur by Krauka

/

about

Efter den tunge vinter bøjer mørket sig. Solen kommer igen og lyset gør dagene længere. Vi hylder lyset, som giver os liv og kraft.

After a long winter, darkness releases its grip. The sun returns and the days grow longer. We pay tribute to the light, which gives us strength and life.

lyrics

Er aftur sólin sækir veg

og birtan bætir daginn

þá ljósið lífgar unaðsleg

bætir allan haginn.

Lífsins ljós við lofum þig

líf og kraftinn allan

ljóssins dagar leika mig

ljósan himinn allan.

Loksins beygir myrkrið sig

eftir vetur þungan

mikla ljós ég elska þig

lýs upp heiminn allan.

about

Krauka Aarhus, Denmark

This is some hard-edged, macho, Viking stuff. Using implements of destruction and pillage ranging from hide drums to shawms to jew’s harps to chainsaws and axes, this Nordic quintet hacks into the Scandinavian permafrost.
